So with that I've decided to build another engine.

Plans are:

L20b Bottom end, balanced crank & rods, 86mm flat top pistons.

W53 head (from L18, ported and shaved)

74 degree cam? (ADVICE PLEASE)

Twin 45 webers - from L18, with 36 or 38mm chokes.

Thats a start... anyone willing to give advive or personal opinion, please feel free to do so.

Cheers Guys.
Hey matey,

In my experience, a shaved head, flat top pistons and a large lift cam (74deg has over .500inch lift!!) doesn't not mix very well, unless you have a thicker headgasket or fly cut the pistons. refer to:- http://www.ozdat.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=15436

but it depends on how far in the bore your pistons will sit, i have a L21 and an 1835cc L18, and the pistons in both sit level with the deck, and the heads for both have been shaved and the L18 ran a big cam and has small valve dints on the pistons and they have about -4cc dish.
were as my L21 is the same as your motor just bigger flat tops and the same W53 head but only a 72deg cam with .484 lift i might still have problems with valve to piston clearance. its a pain of a thing.

Just somthing you have to be very careful about when rebuilding a worked motor as you dont wanna pour you money into it then have it spit a valve and destroy your hard work.

apart from that issue it will be a very beast motor indeed.

Any questions about how im building my L21, just ask, i also have a few books like 'how to hotrod you datto' and a couple of manuals for torque specs etc etc, just PM me if you need any help or info.

Cheers,
Stephen.

I spoke to Trizzo via MSN the other day & he still has the Sunny - it's in 'storage' atm.

I'll tell him to post when he's online next & give an update...
