If it was mine I would be most worried about the bores and valves. I can't remember the name of the stuff but heaps of guys use it in the US when they store their cars away for winter. Its a bit like WD40. You spray it in the bore and in let, out let ports and this preserves the engine. I would also leave the engine with new oil in it to keep any water away from the crank. Fill it over max to the crank and bearing are submersed in oil. Do a search on Google and see what comes up.

I wouldn't worry about filling it with oil, just squirt some down the bores and turn it over with a spanner every few months. If you don't turn it over eventually the valve springs which are compressed will lose their tension.

I have this mate who built up a L-motor around 6 years ago.
Never started it or turned it over since rebuild.
What are the chances that after 6 years it will start ok and not be damaged ???????? :?:

In your case MR1600 I wouldn't worry to much, it should be ok. Just be smart and when it starts up dont over rev it and let it warm up and it should be tops.

sorry for the hijacking MR1600, it just seems a waste to make another thread about such similair topics.

i left a 180b at a mates place 9 years ago, i didnt think i would ever use it again! anyway put the motor in another car and put a bit of oil down the bores and a bit down the inlets and hey presto it runs beautiful!
but i would recomend turning the motor over by hand with a bit of oil in the bores evry so often....
