I am in the middle of restoring my Datsun 1600 SSS. Currently it has a L20b with twin SUs Ported 1600 head mild cam. Im thinking of putting a different engine in like a Sr20t or sumthing of the like. Just wondering whats a cost effective and painless engine I can put in her.

What's your idea of cost effective?

Any of the later model Nissan turbo fours will be about the same cost to install, the only difference will be the actual purchase price of the motor. SR20 (about 2500-3500), FJ20 (1000-2000) and CA18 (1500-2000) will all need reversed cross member, engine mounts, gearbox cross member, shortened tailshaft, intercooler and plumbing, fuel system, wiring etc. Doing most of the work yourself and not including other upgrades to the car you can probably get away with spending between 4000-7000 without cutting too many corners. :D

Oh thats in aussie dollars too.

Let us know if you need more info :)
