I have a problem that i cant figure out. My oil filter is resting on my engine mount causing the filter to split and leak oil. I placed a spacer in between the mount fixing it for a shortwhile but it has now gone back to the way it was. Any one herd of this happenin or could tell me why it is doing this. I cant get under a hoist for two weeks and the trolley jack dont cut it.

Nathan, what brand of filter is it? What designation? Z115 or Z170 (or equivalents)?

When I picked up my "road" 180B, the filter was leaking because it was touching the engine mount. When I pulled it off, it had been overtightened, the had twisted the core of the filter, so that the entire filter was twisted.

Put on a new filter, and it solved the problem. But it sounds like you've already done that?

Have a look for potential problems as mentioned above. If that is not the case, then I would be inclined to replace the right-hand engine mount bracket (you know, the one that bolts to the side of the block and to the rubber mount itself). In my travels, I have occasionally come across slightly different brackets. It would explain your problem. Either that, or the bracket itself is slightly bent.

Good luck!

Unless it is a bluebird L20b with their dicky oil filter setup but I doubt it.

If you go to a Nissan dealer and get the factory oil filter for 200b (shouldn't be more than $8-9) and still have problems then it must be something bent as was suggested!

As you havn't answered the question, what oil filter do you have, I can't work out which thickness one you have but if it is too thick.

There is a thiner version.

It is actually listed in very old Ryco Catelogues.

Under 1600 SSS and a few other vehicles.
These were fitted because they had oil pressure sendors that ran a guage.
These are thicker, and the normal Z115 either hit the oil sender, or it got in the way of you being able to get a good grip on the filter to remove it.

Ryco part number is Z37
Nissan Part number is 15208-H8920

I run this filter on my Z18et bluebrd, my 1971 1600 wagon and my 1970 SSS 4 door sedan.

PS I also has an oil flter split years ago, but that was due to the oil pump dying, and it pumped way to much oil into the filter, and it blew up like a frozen coke can.
This split the seam and sprayed oil everywhere.
