Gidday, im new here so this is my first post.

Can i ask all you fellow datto fans: What are some common problems with L18 motors? now its completely stock (sorry, this isnt a performance question, i hope you dont mind)

mine is currently running like a pig, it miss fires on idle, worse on acceleration, idle varies, it smells really REALLY rich (i cant find the mixture screw, ive never had one of these motors before ive only ever had diesel 720's) and yer, it just runs really crap......it really has a hard time to accelerate.

theres a million bits of exhaust recirculation crap everywhere that id like to get rid of, does anyone have a good idea for that? i was thinking of just getting some manifolds off a 180B instead of plugging all the holes????

Hard to tell what the problem is, best to check the basic stuff first

1. Points and points gap
2. Dizzy cap & rotor button
3. spark plugs.
4. carbie problem?

your best bet would be to get a hold of a 180B manual and run over that.

but as said above^^^ is good advice.

and rememebr - ALL datsuns smell like fuel
