You just mean 1.6 head?

Whats on the spark plug side of head? The # casting? 210 w53 a87. This makes a difference. In the states the stock early L16 were a 210 casting and best left stock.
The later ones had bigger valves and ports for better airflow with the SSS head being the best with the 1.5inch ports.

As for cams Ill let someone else anwser that one but I say get at least a 460 inch lift and some weber/mukuni sidedraft carbs or a weber DGES 38/38

daily driver get a 32/36DGV carb

rememeber new cams most need new rockers )or linshed. new lash pads of a different size and retainers, Cost is well say alot 2-300$ added if new then cost of rebuilding the head.

as for cam dowel settings I believe it came stock in the #1 postion but I put mine in the #2 dowel position for power sooner . 4deg adv #3 is 8deg.

timming the distributor is about 10 or with performance cam 12-15 (myself)dependong on the gas quality

hi

i bought the car the way it is.
my engine guy told me that it was a L18 block with oversized bored out pistons and a 2.6 or 2.8 head

i have no idea as to where to look to find this stuff out.
it already has a cam but it is the wrong type for what i need, it cuts in too late

if somebody can tell me where to look for whatever i will do that

thanks
steven

HIMMMMM some one was talking sh*t. 2.6 2.8 head???????? Never heard such a thing on a 4 cylinder L series

take a pen/pencil and go out to the car n write the #s down on the side of the head and tell us what it is?

the head would be U67 its a opened chambered head. with the cam i am not sure but with the timing set a base timing i think its 10 degrees BTC thne just drive it around then advance the timing then keep on driving it and keep on adjusting it a litte till its got alot more power and inturn it should stop running hot, also the problem with it running hot may be somethign with the cooling system

cheers
