Unfortunatly im movin along slowly ATM so no real progress stuck finishing off a mini interior and a heap of cash jobs so havnt had much time to spend

The Conversion wasnt done by me and i really cant recomend using the same brackets as its fairly dodgy ill try to post some more pics for you soon

Simon

Sorry mate was bout to leave when posted above...

Heres another pic as to why i refer to it as dodgy, i will have to keep this setup for now but i would prefer to work something better out one day

The bracket also is ground down so much that its very thin in parts and for mounts i see this as a real problem... also the bracket covers the volvo calipers second fluid feed line which the volvo's use

Ive heard of cross flowing them, but really i dunno whats been done to these im hoping that all the pistons move or else it all seems worthless

Properly setup these brakes were capable of slowing my 1600 using only standard rear drums and they are old and tired so im keen so see how they go when its rebuilt and back on the road

Ive recently rebuilt my rear drums with slaves and pads just gotta get the drums machined

My Lancer got defected again... 40+ times now so ive spent all last week swapping springs and stuff wasting good datto fixing time

Hope to have more progress soon

Simon

Hey the paint was only from super cheap $135 for the Monza Red and $90 i think for clear topcoat... all acrylic...

My mates boss did it for some beer... And anything dodgy was only due to my own preperation but good enough for a few more years cruising

Havnt finished yet but id say a full 4 litre tin of each... i may get more red so i have spare tho...

Engine bay is going silver with the FJ ( GOLD )

As for progress...

Full underbody, behind headlights and boot has now been painted black, boot too. Rear seat is almost done... new foam so comfy as and looks good. Using retrimmed 120Y console to cover rearward gear stick location. Just getting wiring all done then hope fully Fj back in next few weeks

Some of this wiring was shocking with many melted exposed wires. Lookin alot better now tho and im putting all new wire in for future gauges, turbo timer and alarm

Battery box and fuel tank in just need to put new hoses on, got high pressure stuff from Pirtek good sht...

Looking for a 180sx spacesaver for spare, dunno if it will fit over volvo brakes tho

Simon

Dat...,

I agree with you, that material removed from the strut ear is bloody dangerous. I personally wouldn't drive the car like that, you'll kill yourself when it lets go.
Try and keep the strut ears in tact, and re-design the bracket (with adequate material), and you should be good as gold..
