Monty wont lose the A14E. Will put an A15 or A12 in the coupe just so I can make it a runner. After that who knows what I will put in the coupe????? Thinking about CA/SR/VG. I will sort out something once I get it back on the road.

I have used the bottom arms and lower radius rods from the B310 and opened up the strut tower holes and they do just bolt up!!!!

The B310 strut tubes are longer than the B110's strut tube, but by 10 mm. Then they are in over all lenght are the same as the B110 from the ball joint to the top of the strut hat.

This is all that I used from the B310.

After getting the drivers door back from the blasters. Did some welding/panel work on it and test fitted it on the car and then started test fitting more bits. Its starting to look like a coupe again!! And looks kind of familar to another 1200

Also took a shot of good old Monty sitting a weee tad lower now. The back sits lower because of the drive way. When he's on level ground looks a whole lot better.

I guess I should have looked at the sills first before I started on the front of the coupe..............

I think that this is one stuffed coupe. As it will cost far more than I want to spend to fix this sill. The drivers side sill looks ok, but as I found this damage on the passangers side, some how I just dont think that its worth doing anymore.

it is never too far gone, if people can build a ford 32 roadster out of 3 square feet of rusty steel then you can make a weapon with that coupe!

get that easy fix and make it a beastly CA coupe!!!

you could have used the 1200 strut tops and not had to widen the tower hole but thats fine, either way works

Well after taking a very long hard look at it, the coupe has to go. Its just to far gone. For me to fix in my back yard is way to far out of my skill range.

Well last Sunday I started up old Monty and notice a hell of alot of blue smoke coming out of the exhaust. Me thinks at the time oh bugga thats not good. So on Monday night after work I took off the head to find..........

[ img ]
[ img ]

If you look closely you will see that all the inlet valves have been hitting the tops of the pistons!!!! But that would not make him smoke as bad as he was, so had a look at the valve seals and yes they are buggered!! So I replaced them with new ones and started thinking about what and why the valves were hitting the tops of the pistons.................. Well it worked out that the head I am using is off the old A14 which had huge amounts taken off it, plus the A14 had different type of dish to the top of the piston........ A14 red block, A15 green block.....

[ img ]
[ img ]

So after talking to acouple of mates/engine builders we sort of decided to dye grind a weeee bit out of the tops of the pistons!!!!!!!

So after putting the head back on and checking the compression(no.1 180psi,no.2 190psi,no.3 170psi and no.4 185psi) I bolted everything else back on, fulled him with water and fired him up. Started straight up and no smoke, well after he cleared his throat. So I am stoked that I now in under a week have him running again. All set for the trip to Dunedin to SFoS next weekend and an autocross this weekend!!!

Well I did a trackday yesterday and found out that I need LOTS more camber...... Anyone got some idea's???

I have heard that using B310 LCA's work, as I dont want to get adjustable strut tops just yet due to the cost of them and I would have to get the car recertified.
