Thanks Alex,

im VERY happy with the time
Gonna try to hunt down that class record now :)

the fuel lock is weird, tank sounded almost empty when you knock on it and the car started to run low on fuel on one run

went down the servo and it wouldnt take more than 5 ltrs and was overflowing. get back to the hillclimb and the fuel seems to have settled back to the bottom again.

the breather setup is the std one from the top of the tank with the hose running into the rear chasis rail. The old fuel line is now a return line and the fuel for the engine is from the extra bit of tank welded in the bottom (i think you've seen this)

there is so much pressure building up that the o ring on the fuel guage sender has been weeping a small amount of fuel.

I havent had a chance to have a good look at it yet, but your thoughts and ideas would be appreciated.

Cheers Jeff

OK drained the tank and nearly 40 ltrs came out so it definately was full.
The only time in the past that I have had huge flat spots is when its been low on fuel.

I am picking up a new sender "O" ring tomorrow, so maybe the weeping of fuel is a seperate issue and merely coincidental ?

very strange ??????? :?:

hey Geoff, that's an awesome time - is the SR still standard? My only trip to the hill with the 145rwbhp L18 in the 1200 ran a 48.37, but that's a lighter car and probably more power than you... well done!

anyone got the regs for the Aug 5 hillclimb yet? I'v either missed the email or it hasn't come. They're not on the MG site either.

got another Datsun 1200 coupe and itching to get back to the hill!

It's not turbo & its not powered by McLaren.
It is a 2.4ltr(?) V8 however, 'based' on F1 technology...

Lurch.... oooopps looks like i done a bad thing, the goulds not turbo.
the vw powered car is turbo

the gould's capacity is 2.65
the vw is 2.320 ( x 1.7 cams multiplier = 3.944)

Harry,

the SR is as she came to me from Japan except for the clutch and flywheel.

I ran a 49.11 last hillclimb, I just couldnt sneak her back into the 48's, but grip was down bit due to the cold, I was probably trying too hard as well :)

The 48.45 came from handling improvements, i got rid the the negative camber in the rear wheels and added more negative camber in the fronts, so she corners a lot better now.

entry forms are up, but they have the wrong one on the net (april loads up, not August) I haven't received the email yet either.

heres a view that you wont often see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8lNXoh3fws

unfortunately this was the best run of the day as i have second gear selection issues (so gearbox is coming out again). I did sort out my turn in problems on low speed corners though so looking forward to the next hillclimb.

Harry, you didnt stay to pick up your beer glass for first place.
i didnt see your last times, but was pretty impressed with the 46's :)

beer glass? if I'd known that I would have stayed! last time I did a hillclimb you used to get a piece of cardboard, so I didn't bother hanging around. I want my Mt Cotton beer glass!

third run was my best at 46.86. I was trying a bit too hard in the last two runs only got mid 47s- sideways everywhere and often half off the track. I think there's still a second or more in the car once I learn how much throttle can be used where, and how to launch this thing! Plus getting used to this slow steering (compared to the GTR), which doesn't inspire confidence knowing you could be sideways in an instant if you use a touch too much throttle... But it was a pretty good result first up. 46 was my goal before the event. Goal for the next one is to beat my GTR's 46.2

It was good to get back out there and catch up with a few old faces too.

yeah mate you get a beer glass with class winner engraved on it and the mt cotton logo, their quite nice (i gues it makes you a GLASS winner as well...hehe)

if you ran 46's on your first time you'll eventually run 45's or lower, trying hard always equals slow runs, i fall for it everytime

what do you know about nissan gearboxes ?

could the 2 big nuts shown in this picture being loose and undoing cause the second gear selection problem that i was having ?
