Found a gearbox under some old junk (ford sidevalve) and all I could see with the torch was a casting that said 63A #1. Can anyone tell me what it is? Might be worth rescuing before it is crushed to death by a 7 tonne ford sidevalve block. Thanks.

mate, thanks for the reply. It is hard to get a good look at the box as it is buried under so much junk. I will have to recover it, but this wont be until July. Form looking at your photos, Id say it looks the same, but hard to be certain. The only thing i could see was a casting number on the side of it that said 63A #1. What do you reckon? When I get it out of there, i will follow up with more info.

Hey, I was going to post the same question! Mine doesn't look like that though. It's a dogleg long box. I fairly curious to know what it is out of though. Every post I have read indicates that it should be what is shown above but it isn't :!: I'll take some photo's when I get a chance.

I've read there are L and A series 63A's but they are all short boxes.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Cheers,

Will
