Cheers for the tip Pro.
I'm still undecided on weather to do the initial bodywork myself or let the spray painter do all of it :?

Anyway, here's some more pics from today:

File comment: The sill cover panel I finished last week - didn't turn out too bad, but I should have joined it at that swage line rather then in the middle of the panel...

Looking good !!!

When forming bits like that, I tend to use a bit of thick paper or thin cardboard ( or sheets of sandpaper as these are usually the only thing lying round in the shed  ) to work out the shape needed. Just use scissors (or tinsnips if you've gone the sandpaper route) to cut it to shape, then work out where to put any "V" shaped notches to pull it to shape.

I''m better at welding than forming sheetmetal, so I tend to use the "cut and weld" technique to build pieces like this up from a number of smaller sections.

Having said that, I'd be more than happy to get a result like you have.

nice work mate, rust repair is mental. as far as ive got with my zed so far is cutting the remains of panels out with a cutting wheel haha, lame but true,. so from where im sitting the rust in ur car is only a bit of surface :P unlike mine haha its bad, a panel beater told me to burn it and he would supply the fuel and matches CRY*, i try to put pics up on this site but they say that they are too big in size, wat can i do about that????????????

nar she isnt too healthy in places. thats y i dont know what to do with her,. i dont want to see a fixable zed get crushed, its treason. any datsun getting crushed is just inhumane. the other thing that amazes me is that i have the 74 260C which is the same year as my zed yet it has nil rust anywhere, y do the zeds rust out so bad???
