I've finally gotton round to tackling the tin-worm in the Zed.
Needless to say, the more bog I removed, the more rust I found...

I have new sills to fit (from Rare Spares),
but I have some extra sections I'll have to fab up myself.

Questions? Comments?

Yeah Chris, it's a bad spot for it.
The outer panel overlaps the sill at the rear, & creates a moisture trap.

I have the driver?s side & the top of the rear wheel arch?s to do as well,
But I'm only doing a section at a time so I don?t get too overwhelmed with the job at hand.

More photos to come when I fit the new sill into place & tackle the other areas?

When replacing structural members such as sills, just make sure the car is supported so no unnecessary misalignment forces are placed on the body. Otherwise the door openings etc may get out of alignment. Good luck :)

15/7/06,
Just come in from the shed to warm up
& to let my testicles descend from my armpits ('Blackadder' joke).
It?d damn cold here atm?
I've got the new sill tacked in position & it?s looking pretty good! :D

Questions & comments welcome!

I'm doing much the same to the same spot on my 180B SSS.

Good to see that Datsun kept their method of construction consistent across models - the 180B coupe has the rear quarter overlapping the sill in exactly the same manner, leading to exactly the same rust problem area

I just keep telling myself that the only difference between a little spot of rust and a big one is the size of the patch you need to weld in :?

Seriously though, its a good feeling to look back when you've finished and its all nice and new again. You look like you're well on the way.

Thanks guys.

Yeah, I'm feeling much better now that the new sill is in place.

Aaron, I believe they have various replacement panels for different models.
