here's the first lot of pics we have of the car - you can see it's pretty straight and rust free.

the only rust is a tiny bit in the floor, and some pinholes in the gutters that need welding and said pinholes have caused a panel under the hoodlining to rust thru completely. sheet and pop-rivets will fix that though.

more pics coming.

build cost to date including car - $660

see this thread http://www.ozdat.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8059 for more details on the engine buildup.

almost lined up a set of S4 RX7 seats and a speco boost gauge for $200.

will add these to the total should we get them.

also my dad has given me a set of mazda 626 rims with 60% tyres - so they'll be good spares.

pics coming soon of the engine build - the tomei double valve springs are in now and the inlet/exhauist manifolds are half complete.

well, the tomei double valve springs are grabbing on the valve stem seal and lifting it up and down with the valve.

so, are there varying thicknesses of valve stem seals (and types) or am i gonna have to use the holden springs i have?

You could try a L series valve stem seal.
Just a guess though.

Jords is right, most older mazda wheels are 4x110 (With a few exceptions). The newer Mazda wheels are 4x114.3 with "fwd" offsets.

RWD 626 are 4x110 and FWD 626 are 4x114.3.

I have a set of new stem seals out in the shed that I am doing nothing with, I can go measure the ID of them if you want. They were part of an L6 VRS kit that I only used a few gaskets from.

i think i've got two sets of L4 valve stem seals and a set of CA20 valve stem seals that i'm not likely to ever use. you can have a set if they are the right dimensions.

Lurch - the L series seals were a PERFECT fit. CA styles have a smaller valve stem and the seal grabs. thanks to guppy for the seals 8) champion as always.

turbo manifold, inlet manifold and dizzy fitting coming soon.

File comment: engine as it sits - sans head and cam at the moment. you can clearly see the "reducers" for the inlet ports in this shot.

File comment: turbo of choice (subaru TF035HM) and the kawasaki TBs. check out the injectors....look familiar?

File comment: you can clearly see the difference here between the two sets of springs. you can also see just how big the stock A series stem seal is and why i had to change it!
