nice job on the parcel shelf, probably something i should've done, but oh well, should also add a bit of stiffness there too, but since there's going to be a cage, that wont matter :)

Coming along nicely, gotta hate whinging neighbours too

I used Standox high opacity white for the 'final coat'
but for the touch ups, I used 'Protec' from Eastern Auto Paints.

The 'Standox' is great stuff and so is the 'Protec'. Just make sure you use a good primer. I cheated and used an industrial grade 2 pack primer. Ameron (sold by All Cars Paint supplies). Their paint is fantastic for rust prevention.
They sell a primer that has zinc oxide and a few other nice bits and pieces in it.

Gday Mark

I remember you on the "old" Ozdat email list from "wayback". Weren't you the man who carried gearboxes on his head?

My 1600 wheels are now on the road as you see. Love driving in it!

Hi Richard,
I think that was someone else but i do vaguely remember that someone commented about carrying gearboxes on his head, that could of been my brother Craig, I remember using some of your weber jet recommendations, that you posted up years ago.

Cheers Mark O

Nice 1600 Richard.

Haha - that was Mark Krawczuk. Does he still float around the datsun scene?

Thats me.

I am still into Webers, but Mikunis also are getting my attention at present.

The 44mm Mikunis are a surprise, they perform nearly as good as webers. I just bolted a pair on, balanced the butterflys and set the idle mixtures - no jet swaps, no flat spot, no back firing, and just as easy to start. I see why they are popular in the US.
