ok so i got one of these rear adjustable sway bars from whiteline.

can i just say firstly that the quality of the brackets i got is pathetic and i will be calling them about it today! they cant seem to bend a straight 90 degree angle  and there is 2 brackets that bolt to the A arms that are 'T' piece brackets that should be 'y' Piece brackets. ill probably have to bend it some how if they cant give me a better or proper one, but anyway ill speak to them first.

but any way i need to bolt these 'y' brackets to the a arms as in the picture below. how would i go about putting the nuts on the back of the bolts inside the a arm? i can only think of drilling holes on another side of the arm so i can get my fingers or spanner in to tighten them. but i am thinking that this will weaken the arm excessively yes?

dont realy want to weld them on either.

any one else done this?

help or input appreciated

Whiteline will just blame shelby about the quality of their product and lack of fitting instructions... useless bastards.

whiteline bought the selby name years ago.
Selbys have no tie up with whiteline these days.

The bar in question.
We threw the nasty S links away.
Used our ball links and welded a bracket to the top of the control arm.

No Sorry it was a one off to fix a cusomers car.
straight forward tho. Lfted the bar up fitted the ball link & made a bracket that sat on the top of the rear arm.
Same link as used on our front bars.

I think you should read Baz's last post again. It might only be a sentence long, but it's still the best post in the thread.

I bought the other type that sits under the xmember. Total waste of time and money. And the quality was bad. I thew the piece of sh*t out  . Could not bring my self to sell it to some poor soul. I don't think you will find much difference with a rear sway in a 1600. If the rear has been aligned then it should behave very well. If it was me I would return it before you install it and ask for your dough back on the basis of extremly poor quality.

Weld some stiff wire to the nut then stick it in the hole and keep on bending it till its in the right spot, same as fitting some towbars.

whoa! i think i just got it:

weld the end of one long peice of thick wire to the nut and stick it down the nearest hole and manipulate the wire until you can see the nut behind the hole in which the bolt is going, then hopefully put the bolt through the hole and mate it up with the nut that your holding with the wire attached!!

pretty good idea me thinks

Geez that whiteline design is $hithouse...

I like the welded bracket bolted on to the side (THE SIDE FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!) of the trailing arm! Wonder what flexes more? The bracket or the sway bar :giggle:
