Just a sort of tap, tap, tap noise. Chris says something about the cam needing repaired/replaced but who knows? |

loose tappet maybe? whip the rocker cover off and check you don't have a credit card gap between one of the tappets and the cam. |

Yeh it always had a bad tappet noise... Think EA falcon Ive adjusted them so many times with no avail. Somebody(cant remember who) said the cam is most probably worn down from 30+yrs of use. I was using it as an excuse to get a nice lumpy one for it but sold it insted. |

It might be that one of your lash pads has come out of the rocker arm. I hear that would make a hell of a racket when that happens. |

Well Dave poped into my work today for me to have a listen. Its exacly the same as when i had it. a clack clack from the top end. I really dont know what it is. Dad sugested today to take the head off and take it to a specialest for new valve seats/guides and all the rest. and let them decide on what else needs doing. Probably through Harris Engines, thats who we use for heads a work. Im yet to tell Dave this, well he'll know now |

nah man - that's just $$$$. my 240C had the same thing - i'd just re-do the clearances. then if it doesn't makes a difference, you know you have a "waisted" post or a dead/worn tappet or stuffed cam lobe or something silly like that. a lot cheaper than having a head re-done. try to run the engine with the camshaft cover off (oil goes everywhere, lay lots of rag around the engine bay) and see if you can pinpoint it then. |

Ive had a nice hint to pop down to Prestige Automotive at Welshpool with it after the holidays. Apparently very good. Do we have to think about the EA Falcon? |
