$154 isn't that much considering the brakes tend to wear less rapidly when you have so much excess stopping power. Also, you would get 1, maybe even 2 machines out of the discs before they were below min thickness, so that dollar cost is spread over a lot of brake pad replacements.

But yeah, getting any of this work done in the ACT always seems to be a rort.
That's cheaper than a set of rotors for most new cars. My Mum's Renault is something like $250 a rotor.

Well, the whole point of the 260z is that being an 32 yo jap s--tbox, the parts are cheap and readily available. You are comparing to a new, french vehicle. If I have to fork out mega bucks to maintain the dato, it defeats the whole purpose of owning a dato.

Yeah, well judging by your experience, 120Ys are only sold by the half dozen, so having to buy (for example) twelve front disc rotors won't work out much cheaper.

I know the R30 had a 21mm fnt swaybar, as well as the 280zx, but I have seen pre-1981 R30's with 18mm front swaybars, so it could be a hard question to answer unless I trawl hybridz
Hah, I'm not that concerned about it, and obviously I'm happy to have a 21 mm sway up front as opposed to 18. Should be able to track down a nolathane bush, even one for a 280 would work.

Hey are you usually home weeknights, I need to swing 'round and pick up those brakes!

Having the zed with it's nose in the air and front wheels off really helped me visualise what I need to do on this front brake upgrade.
Any update on the swaybar bushes?
I have gone from a 21 mm original R30 item to a R31 item being 24mm (with the old sh*t original bushes)
Made an instant difference, but in slow tight corners i get a bit of understeer during the initial body roll, then it settles as the car kinda stops bouncing throught the corner. Hit a bump (like in the roadworks at russell) and she be slipping again.

I think i need to stiffen up the rear now.

Well, have been driving around on the new suspension for a little while now, and am very happy with the results.

It handles bumps and corners like a regular car. It's not super rigid, but perfect for daily driving.

There is some mild squeaking from the nolathane when going over driveways or large bumps, but compared to the rattling and carrying-on that it used to have, it's much better.

Overall I feel much more confident driving it. It also looks a bit better now, not sitting up in the air like an SUV.

So now that the dato is back on daily driving duties, I'm in a great position to ruin the r32...

the s30 has been gathering dust in the garage for a while now, the fuel injection system and/or ECU decided to cark it (given how long it had been sitting in the open in an mr30 carcass, surprising it held up as long as it did).

Have a haltech to go on it now, also GTR injectors, but it'll be a while before the zed sees action again.

Bob finished welding up the new fuel rail on the weekend, it holds 60 psi rail pressure and 6 x 440cc yellowtop GTR injectors.

Unfortunately there are no leaks from the rail so it's not going to smell like a datsun anymore :(

Should be pretty inconspicuous once painted matte black.

Also on order are 6x LS1 coil packs. Details on ignition system to follow.

Some people might argue that a 3" intake is overkill on a 2.6 atmo.

Those people suck.

I love this mate! Love the work, the paint, the attention to detail. Funny thing, I've just pulled the EFI gear off my S130 and installed Su's from a 260. Haven't had it out of the shed yet, little bit of tidying up to do first, but seems to run well :) I'll keep an eye on your progress!
