Howsit guys

Im a newbie to the forum, from Cape Town South Africa

I currently own a 1980 Datsun 1400, known as the UTE to Australia and the Sunny Truck in Japan

Here in SA we just call them 1400 "bakkies"

Its a stock original pickup, i just added a Mk1 Golf "Chin-lip"

My plans are to fit a set of Yamaha R6 bike carbs, ive already purchased them, just havent had a chance to get them fitted (I got married and stuff so that got in the way lol!)

Here are some pics of my UTE

They're are quite plentiful downhere.. We have what we call the "low roof" and he "High roof" versions..

"The Sunny Truck was sold in South Africa for a total of 37 years (launched there in 1971). The B140 variation, with 1.4-litre A14 engine, was manufactured up until 2008 by Nissan South Africa as the Nissan LDV 1400 (Light Delivery Vehicle). The 1400 Bakkie saw many changes in its long career. The main ones were a five-speed manual gearbox, power assisted disc brakes, and a roof height extension to accommodate taller South Africans. A sport model of the 1400 Bakkie was marketed as the "Champ". This model had appropriate side striping, bucket seats, a tachometer, and central handbrake. This vehicle had two popular local nicknames, either "1400" or "kanniedood" which translated from Afrikaans means "cannot die", a testament to its reliability." (Source: Wikipedia)

These lil pickups are very popular as drag racers down here.. The most popular conversions being the 4AGE transplant, which are 90% of the time turbocharged.

The Mazda FE engine is also commonly used, as well the SR20DET and Mazda 13B Rotary..

However, the SR20VE and Toyota 3SGE BEAMS swaps are becoming very popular and are breaking into the low 12 second 1/4 mile barriers in stock unopened form..
