I dunno why I haven't started a dedicated build thread on my 'other' car.
Back in 2005, I got a call from Mr Wilkins from SWR. He knew me and my 280C well as I'd been to his workshop many times tuning, testing, roadworthy slips, parts and stuff like that. He said that he had just taken the engine out of an old Cedric and wondered if I wanted the rest of the car. I'm glad I was sitting down when he said '240C coupe" because I had hunted around for one of these things for years for a friend of mine in England who wanted one desperately.
I dropped everything and went out to see it. All the way there I juggled in my head how I was going to convince my wife I needed four very old cars. Before the coupe arrived, I had two 330's and a Nissan Cherry privately exported from England by the same chap who wanted me to find a 230 series coupe. (needless to say, I never sent him his coupe.....sorry Jon
)
Oh my god, what a mess when I first saw it, but i looked more closely at the poor old thing and it wasn't too bad after all. Some rust and stuff but it was straight and i had a spare L28 at home and......i just had to have it!
After no haggling, it was mine. I got the nod from my wife by stripping one of my 330's for parts and selling the Cherry. Now I only have the two cedrics, a P230 and P330 but I'm very happy with that.
Progress has been sporadic, with lack of funds and motivation sometimes taking months or years to overcome.
But now it's getting closer. The L28 engine has just been built, a special mix of custom parts that will be turbocharged eventually. For the run in and shakedown process, I'll be using the stock 2 barrel Hitachi carby.
Brakes, steering, suspension, interior and bodywork have all had some degree of rework.
Ebay has been awesome, so many parts gathered from there. Import monster came to the rescue with things like rear tail lights and internal/external trim. My great mate Dave donated a whole bunch of spares from his now deceased 230 series sedan. He's the man responsible for kicking things (and me) along to get it finished. I must admit, he's been an awesome friend and I have a lot to repay him for. You know who you are Mr D.E.
So here are some pictures. I hope you enjoy them . Cheers.
