As topic says my headlights are all working correctly but the high beam indicator stays lit constantly even with ign off ! Does this mean a bad earth or something else ?

Any help would be great thanks.

Normally, with Factory wiring, the MB [Main Beam] warning lamp has 12V applied to it via the fuse box [Red wire] and only when the Main Beam relay operates does it get a ground via the light switch.
In your case it sounds like the ground side, the RW [Red/White] wire appears to be grounded all the time.
If the headlamps are working correctly you need to find out where the RW wire is grounding :(

Also my charge light is not lighting up when starting and this is stopping the alternator from charging !?!? Are the two issues related..

You can see from the above schematic that the Charge Warning Lamp relies on the 5A fuse for power and the Voltage Regulator for ground.
Once the engine is running and the alternator commences to output a charge current, the Warning Lamp Relay disconnects the ground.

YES

this just happend on my 521 truck.
I swapped to alternators but a fuse was blowing. This fuse seemed unrelated at the time as it want to the thermo sense wire via the dash.
Well to make this sory short the IG light would not work when fuse blown. But alternator was good when cked at the part store but not in my car. I assume the fuse blowing was also the 12v to excite the alternator.

I reseated the dash connector and it fixed itself. I assume it was a resisistance connection.

I also reseated the alternat t connector/volt reg. under wire by glove box /reseat fuses
