So, I have some DBA425 Rotors in to get machined and it turns out I have early model struts (180B, same as 1600 I believe).
My question is, can this conversion be done on early struts (I know the later ones are better), or if not, why not???
The early hubs have a PCD of 4x90 and OD of 68mm to the rotors stock ID of 69mm.....
Hoping someone can answer this quickly so I can finish the brakes.....
If the early struts can't be used, any got some late ones for sale??????
Cheers

FAirly sure its because the bolt spacing for the caliper to mount to on the strut is different

Hmm, dunno then. Late 180b struts are about the only ones I don't have in my collection

Thought I'd chime in...

The late model struts have the offset strut tops to achieve sligtly more neg camber than the early ones, this helps to identify the later model ones. With regards to the spacing of the holes needs to be 3.5" not much different but this will see the VL calipers bolt straight up, you may also need to space the calipers further inwards by using 1.5mm washers.

Also need to swap your struts from left to right thus to to have the calipers on the front of the car so they can clear the steering knuckles and tie rod.

Hope that helps???

yes the stub axles are smaller on the earlier struts. Also, the calipers are different, bearings are different

:?:
VL, 1600 and 180B were all 3" bolt spacing were they not?
3.5" was 200B, 240K, Zed etc and suits the hilux / landcruiser caliper (among others)

Or is my memory failing me already

I remember doing a how to with info on this and I had mentioned the bolt spacing. Might have to look for it again and post up the link.
