actually sounds like your ignition switch is dodgy if you have to hold in a certain position for it to stay running. if you have a multimeter turn key to ignition and see if you have voltage to your coil

Hi mate, this happened to me years ago. I was about 2 hours from home and had to travel through the hills to get home. Was a nightmare to drive, holding the key for 2 hours lol. It took me weeks to fix it too so i was driving around Melbourne having to hold the key the whole time. For the life of me I can't remember how I fixed it though, so not much help. There's no loose wires on your dizzy is there? Also is it an electronic dizzy or points? Any loose wires going to your ignition switch?

Its a small white ceramic (kit kat finger shaped) component. It will be residing near the coil.
