*cough* quad throttle bodies *cough*
No way is a weber setup going to be cheaper than SU's to get running. But if you require someone to tune them all the time (I dunno about others but I could never get my SU's right!) then its going to cost u more in the long run. Webers you just get them right and never have to worry about touching them (well atleast I havent so far)
BTW I'll be selling my Twin 40's soon if anyones interested
Mad1600 what you are saying about the SU's needing constant re-tuning is true only if the SU's in question are in need of a rebuild with worn/bent needles etc.
In good working order SU's would require little re-tuning once correctly setup.
I think most people might have used a set of worn out SU's at some point in the past, and due to the wear in the parts and the constant tuning required I believe this has contributed to the myth of SU's be unreliable.
My old Hitachi SU clones were O'rrible
to keep in tune, they would need adjusting every three to four days.
I completely stand behind twin 44mm (
) or 1 3/4inch British SU's, as an excellent street carb setup.
On full noise they do sound like webers
