Been on here for years, bout time i finally put a car up

Body was bought off a mate who bought it off a mate, who bought it from his grandma a while ago now.
Had suck thru L18 turbo from first mate, second mate got the motor out of RAD510, and im finishing it up...

Specs are:

Engine:
200B L20b
Bored to 2.2 litre
Flat top peugot 504 pistons (90mm bore)
L18 head
Oversized valves (280zx, 44mm inlet, 36mm exhaust)
Ported head
Twin 40mm webers, currently on unmatched to port lynx manifold
S2bb electronic dizzy
full balanced motor
Datsport rebuild less than 1000km ago
Tuned by Kent town Autotune (100 rwhp at 4000rpm as still being run in)

Brakes:
Front:

Current: 240k vented
Next week: S13 NA CA brakes

Rear: Standard 180b drums
Soon to be r31 rear brakes

Driveline:
Bluebird 5 speed
extreme HD L28 clutch
balanced and lightened flywheel

Suspension:
Front:

current: 240k struts, crappy inserts
industrial springs
strut brace
next stage: S13 coilovers with adjustable camber tops
Maddat adjustable LCA w/R31 arm for ball joint
Adjustable caster arm
rose jointed tie rods
whiteline sway bar
nolathane bushes
Rear:
standard with industrial springs
looking into coilover conversion

Interior:
Sunny steering wheel
Familia seats
Matching Autometer sports series Tacho, water temp, oil pressure
Pioneer Mp3 headunit
MTX 6*9's in custom parcel shelf
Pioneer 12" sub in box
Kenwood 640W amp
Rear venetian

Wheels and Tyres: Enkie RS Evolutions, White with Polished Dish
Front: 17*7
nankang 205/40/17
Rear: 17*8
simex 215/45/17

also have 14*8 wantanabees 185/65/14 for disposing of stockies

Body:
Respraying original colour, Houn Green
all rust professionally removed
purchased but not fitted bolt on flares
granny visor

car is currently in primer, hopefully final coat this weekend once exams are over
the main work is going into the sus department, trying the S13 front end as it easy to get and easy to upgrade and get adjustment with. So once teh guards are back on i can fit up the coilovers and LCA's to finish off the caster arms
in the rear looking into getting some height adjustable coilovers, and probably datsport rear kit
apart from that once i get some more coin up again, would love to get some old school wheels like some works equips, with the flare kit get some 15*7/15*8 with the biggest dish i can find
i want to give it a more old school feel
also still undecided if the grandma visor will stay or go, doesnt sit right with the 17's, but hoping once i get some old school 15's it will suit better

will post up pics once i take more and as more parts come in
would love to hear some feedback

Finally up!

Looks awesome man, I'm loving how you have kept it all original but are the side moulds staying? I reckon you should keep them they make a great combo with the venitians and the front visor.

Them Enkies look cool too! any specs on offset etc etc????

Would love to see some photos of the engine bay specially them twin carbs.

Keep us posted with the S13 front end, sounds rather interesting.

still undecided on that
can get some made up if i decide i want some after the paint work is finished

i think next on the exterior is to get some spare guards to hook up the flares. I wanna run the flares black, but that wont fit in with a white strip and draw lots of attention that i dont necessarily want, so im thinking either run white or body colour flares and see if i want the strip after that.

The wheels are S13 offset, have 10mm slip on spacers on the front, 25mm bolt on spacers on the rear
cant remember front offset, but fill the guards, so got flares for the longer LCA's
rears i think are -38, still some room in the guards, but the guards get filled with the 14*8 wantanabees with 0 offset
probably wont run the rear flares as they wont go on very nicely as there isnt much room between door and guard, but can always work something out

car is in shed prepped for final coat, only got phone camera which doesnt work well in the shed lights, so once its out will put up some more pics, i know you still wanna see the 510 strut brace mounted up

anyway i am a wheel whore, here are some more of the wheels ive got

Yeah I'm still hanging lol

I'm a bit of a wheel whore my self, I spend most of my lunchtime looking up rims even tho I've already got some Longhamps....

I reckon put the flares all round and paint them black, well depending if they're goign to be moulded onto the guard but if you're just after the bolted on look I reckon black would look tough ass nails.

I think i once saw a 180B with flares it actually looked alright even tho they were moulded on.

Loving the colour dude... very subtle, yet looks good. Looks like a neat build up. Gotta love the 180b. And i especially like how you've mounted yr CD player without removing the old radio... haha....

Are those wheels on the bottom of the rims pic, off an EK civic or a CRX by chance?

yeah i liked the colour, standard colour, huon green, the fresh version pops a lot more than the 32 year old version. Was thinking about painting it a version of sky blue, possibly the camry altise metallic blue, but i like either explaining it as advocardo or baby poo and piss mixed together......

those rims came from FBI (four brothers imports) in ADL back when they were around
my mate bought a set of 4 for his 910, had ballooned 225's on 7" rims which hit the struts, so i told him to buy some slip on spacers, basically he f&*^ed up 3 times trying to buy spacers so i swapped them for SR silvia stockies.
they should be now rolling on a BB in ADL, i think they are painted black now

the actual dash is almost perfect, not even a scratch, but has the standard that the clock and odometer dont work, but the clock is dialed into 6:10 so i dont really care. Didnt really wanna mess with the radio as it was still working when i disconnected it and invloves further cutting to fit a head in. Was gonna put it into the glovebox like i did with my BB, but by the time i added gauges there was no point in hiding anything.

The tacho was mounted by the second owner of the car, i would have got something more subtle in size and placement, but lucky enough it was the same series as the guages i already had........just waiting for a reason to put in the boost guage......

the only thing i havent done yet is painted the engine bay. i am waiting till i get the brakes going with the suspension, then working out what MC to use etc.. so once i have that worked out, i will strip it out, clean it up, and add R31 accelerator pedal, steering box and brace, and look at fitting bluebird radiator, which will invole a little more cutting and shunting, and clean and paint everyting as it become more finalised

probably the worst part of datsun ownership. the car has been off the road for two years as i have been both trying to save money and find time around uni to paint it. i keep thinking once it is painted i will finally be able to drive it again, but i still know that probably in another 3 months it will be off the road again changing or fixing something else. It is the never ending project, and although i will be happy with it every step of the way, i will never be satisfied

updates, well.....not alot
all the panels are now painted and fitted back on, just doing the cutting and polishing this week
will get a real camera and put up some final pics this weekend hopefully

then test fitted the S13 front end up, neither the 610 or r31 caster arms bolt up onto the r31 LCA, and the sway bar mount also needs moving.
im getting a set of the adjustable caster arms off techno toy tuning, they seem reasonably quality and priced, and yeah, will have to make new mounting holes for the caster arm and sway bar links
had a mate who was gonna make up ball jointed tie rods, but being married now he is busy with other things, so ill have to make them sometime aswell

also had a front brake line blow out which really sucks, as once it was bolted up i was gonna drive it to a place just up the road and get new ones made up 2 suit the silvia brakes, so now i gotta decide if i crappy fix it and try drive there with only rears, or bite the bullet and tow it 2kms

and also my car runs outa rego on the 20th and im still undecided which car to rego, whether i rush the 610 or stick with the 720 for another 3 months...

Looks like you will be busy for some time.

I'd say stick to the ute for another 3 months gives you more time to work on the 610 without having to rush it.

The TechnoToy stuff looks alright, Mark's 180B has them caber tops and they looks the goods planty of camber adjustment if you ask me, I was also looking at them caster rods but I'd say jump onto the AE86driving club forum and look under the traders, there is a guy on there who is the official TechnoToy distributor for Aus and might be able to get them here much easier than buying direct from the manufacturer.

Just an idea since I was thinking on doing the same.

Keep us posted.

Alex

out of interest, i checked out some bluebird LCA's
if anyone does this in the future, these would be a much better option than r31, but oh well...

yeah, i will rego the ute, i forgot i should get tax back soon enough so i can afford to have 2 cars regoed soon, and that way i can still have a reliable car and test out the 610 as i go

i think the flares will be a miss, with camber the wheels should still sit inside the gurads, no need drawing more attention than i have to

anyway, back to rubbing...

car got the full cut and polish done and the paint is looking great
just finishing polishing up the bumpers and putting them back on, so will put up some pics of the completed car soon, hopefully weekend
its wierd to be actually putting a car back together, more often than not im striping cars, but im learning to be more patient when actual time and effort show good results
