Hi Guys,
Im looking into getting caliper brackets made for the following combo;

200b strut with 278mm / 22mm thick DBA rotors (magna verada), to suit a rx7 series 4/5 4spot alloy caliper.

With this bracket, you can pretty much do your own bolt on brake conversion (upgrade), excluding the cost of drilling a blank rotor to suit datsun stud pattern.

If I have a number of guys interested im sure we can get a discount if we have a number of ppl keen to do this upgrade.

Please reply here if you are interested, as all the hard work goes into measuring up and making the initial brackets, if we get a number of ppl keen, it should make it alot cheaper.

And ppl can do there own conversion instead of paying thousands.

Cheers

Martin

Do you know if they will fit a bluey strut ? If so, I would be interested.
Bluey and 200b I think are very similar ??

I have designed and built a bracket to mate up the following: -
200B strut, Mazda Series IV RX-7 calliper, 280 x 22mm vented rotors.
Rotors need drilling to the 200B hub pattern and strut needs minor profiling to mount custom bracket, that is all

FWIW, the brackets would need to be different for a Bluey strut.

The Bluey caliper bolts to the other side of the strut ears, and the bolt holes are further away from the spindle. All they have in common with the 200B is the 3.5" bolt spacing.

No go, I'm afraid.

Magna disc is actually 24mm thick

What material and thickness is this bracket expected to be ?
And why to suit that strut ?

Havent gone in to materials as yet, as the post says its just a Expression of Interest, and gathering of information at the same time.

200b struts because they are the most common (IMHO). This post is aimed towards 1600 and 180b / 200b owners.

The 200B strut is shorter than the original 510/1600 strut, so you can get factory lowering, and it has larger bearings and stub axle.
Can be fitted to the 510,610,710 at least with no problems generally.

With the offset 180B strut top, you can get some factory negative camber.

The LHS strut to the RHS and vice versa to clear the steering arm ball joint.

The calliper bracket I designed is machined out of 20 x 36 x 190mm steel stock and the mounting surfaces to the strut ears and calliper ears can be individually machined to position the calliper dead centre over the disc rotor.

I haven't looked into it but it could probably be adapted to match various rotor/calliper combinations to the 200B strut.

I can provide a CAD drawing to those of you are interested, once my PC loses its' attitude to my CAD files :(

Yes, the ball is pretty much in my court.
I'll be providing some CAD files and detailed pics. of my conversion and it will be up to the individual to ascertain if that is what they want to do.
The bracket may be suitable to a different rotor to what I used.
I purposely used a rotor that sat very close to the hub to avoid a rotor/control arm clearance issue I had at full lock and full suspension compression
The Verada rotor has a "hat" dimension of 45mm which means it is 45mm closer to the control arm.
The standard 200B rotor has a hat of 48mm which caused me grief.

Errr, yes, it is a '94 - '97 Golf VR6 MK3 front rotor.(#835).
Don't hold that against me though, they were the best fit rotor when determining all the critera.
The hat is only 28mm, 6mm more than the rotor thickness.
The centre hole is 65mm and needs to be enlarged to the 73mm required by the 200B hub.
15" alloy wheels are the minimum.
There is only about 2mm clearance between the Mazda calliper and the Skyline rims I am currently using
