Does anyone know any sources of lightweight aftermarket L series flywheels.

I need it to suit a 6 bolt crank and 225mm clutch plate.

I've found this one http://m.ebay.com.au/itm?itemId=360871121602
Does anyone know if there any good??

There's a fidanza alloy one also on ebay that I'd like to stay away from but.

It looks like I'd get the steel one delivered for around $400, and that's about the limit $$ wise.

I liked the look of the competition clutch flywheels as sold by some american Z shops:

Never ended up biting the bullet and getting one though...

These ones nick? They look like they can be used with any size clutch, may even be able to upgrade to a 240mm clutch.

The one I linked in my original post looks exactly the same as the kameari lightweight flywheels and they sell for about $650 i think.

About the fidanza ones Ive just read some bad reports about them, but it was just on a forum somewhere.

I'd like to hear some first hand experience from any of these., or any other options.

Here's the kameari one
http://www.kameariusa.com/l6-lightweight-flywheel/

Looks exactly the same as the one on ebay also from japan but much cheaper.

Those cheaper ones on eBay are exactly the same as the kameari. I have used the cheaper ones on a race engine that turns 9000 rpm and they are ok. Getting a standard pressure plate to hold together at high rpm is a problem. They break the metal bands at the rivets

These are the 2 options at the moment.
I asked the Japanese seller if he stocked the 4.8kg version of the top flywheel and he said he doesn't.
Top one is 4.2kg bottom one is 5.4 kg
Not sure which one to go 4.2kg or 5.4kg.
The bolt on ring gear looks a bit dodgy on the lower one.
Top uses 225mm clutch, bottom can use any clutch inc 240mm, so that's an option but I'd probably never go that big.

Both are around $400 shipped.top from japan bottom from USA

Surely there is something else local but

Weights arnt a true comparison. The heavier one may weigh more in total but have most of its mass closer to the centrepoint and may still be easier to turn.
I think the ring gear might be replaceable on the lower one if you ever wear it out with the starter motor. Doubt its a weak point but fair call as every connection is a potential point of failure i guess.
Your choice really. If not looking to contain alot of power i'd go the top one, if you need room to improve or have big power id consider the bottom one...

It wasnt exactly a street car, but it was licenced and i drove it quite a bit for testing on the street.

I wouldnt hesitate to get a flywheel like that for the street.
The clutch aggressiveness is where it is a PITA on the street. Dont go a brass button center with no springs. Go a heavy organic clutch plate with a light flywheel

This is my clutch now

It is nearly impossible to drive on the street. I have to have around 7-8000 rpm just to stop the car stalling when taking off nicely.
It is not due to the flywheel, it is due to the little 5.5 in twin plate metal on metal clutch

A rb series flywheel has the same 6bolt pattern and ring gear i believe. Opens up options.

Wow that's a serious setup!

I'm just using a standard type 225mm L6 clutch, forget the brand it's made in japan.
But it's all I really need for my engine.

Im going to order one of those flywheels, i think it will make a massive difference
